VIvian; The beads on the cheap slipper is starting to come loose liao. Oh well.
Had some free time this weekend so decided to spend the day at Mt Coot-tha.
1) Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium
2) Brisbane Botanic Gardens
3)Mt Coot-tha Summit Lookout
Wanted to visit the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium and the Brisbane Botanic Gardens. Unfortunately, the planetarium was undergoing refurbishment so it was closed. A big blow to my plans because I was really excited about aircon (hey, it's really hot walking to and from public transport okay). That left me with only the Botanic Gardens, which was waaaaayy larger than I had expected. I ended up covering only maybe one third of the whole place. I couldn't endure the heat; it was just too hot and humid among the plants.
The sections I covered, in no particular order, were:
- Bamboo Grove
- Arid Region Plants
- Cacti and Bromeliad House
- Fragrant Plants and Herbs
- Bamboo Walk
- Japanese Garden
- Bonsai House
- Fern House
- Tropical Display Dome
Fragrant Plants and Herbs:
The smell was intoxicating.
Digging for worms and bugs:
The Cacti and Bromelia House:
Inside the Tropical Display Dome:
I didn't linger because the humidity is SO awfully oppressing inside.
I wish there were more signs in the Gardens. Although I had a map, I didn't find it very useful because there were just so many little paths. Rather than use the map to find my location, I used the plants that I came across to place myself on the map.
Japanese Garden:
The Bonsai House:
I'm not sure where I am
Sunbathing lizard
Spiders :{ ugh. Too many!
It's not a clear picture, but I think the plants look like a bird's head!
Tree with flowers that hang down:
Orange hibiscus:
I swear they look more vibrant in real life
Not quite sure what this section is called, but it's on the way to the restaurant/exit/entrance.
Walking through the restaurant:
After that, I caught a bus up to Mount Cook-tha Summit Lookout!
It would have been a great picture if my camera hadn't blurred out the photo :(((((
The camera ran out of memory, so here are some shots from my phone:
Meet Iggy! Isn't she lovely?
This is a very lucky shot. My phone screen protector is soooo scratched you literally cannot see anything under the sun. So the lady who took the photo for me just aimed the phone camera vaguely at me and took a snap hahahaha
Ice!
SPIDERS EVERYWHERE! There were FIVE LARGE spiders at the stupid bus stop! Huge huge huge huge huge!
It was a super hot day. So so tanned now. Like a real Borneo native. I have very tanned feet with fair lines wherever my slippers covered.
I'm coming back to visit in the evening next time! It'll be lovely to see the city lights from Mount Coot-tha!
Next weekend will be the start of my mid semester break!! WOOHOOOO! Made plans for an unplanned trip hehehee excited about it! I feel so grown up and responsible and independent when I have no one but myself to depend on, wandering about on my own.
I think I know why some of my pictures are blur. My camera eye (I can't think of the technical term right now....) is smudged. How to clean? :(( Somebody tell me please!
Wish me luck & send me love <3!
