Wednesday 3/4, Melb

Wednesday morning, I decided to sleep in and wake only when the boys did. It gets warmer by a few degrees anyway. Melbourne weather is too crazy cold for the clothes I brought with me. Every day, and night especially, I feel as if I'm under dressed.

I sleep on Sim's couch in his room, and use two (airplane) blankets. The t-shirt and long cotton pants that I wear to bed aren't warm enough, so Jun Jie loaned me an extra long pants and long-sleeve shirt which I wear over my clothes. On top of that, I wear my sweater. Still can't get warm enough.

Anyway, on Wednesday I went to the city by myself again because Sim had his own plans. Jun Jie did offer to go with me, but he had assignments and I didn't want to be the reason behind his bad grades (should he get any).

After grabbing a hot cup of cappuccino and chocolate chip muffin from 7-Eleven for lunch (12.40+), I made my way to the museum to continue where I had left off. It was 1.30pm by the time I got there, because I am that bad with directions even with Google Map.

Passed the RMIT in the city while I was walking:

The Parliament Building was next to the museum. Apparently, the students from Melbourne University (which is also in the city centre) have their final exams here.

Inside the museum, I continued at the Melbourne Gallery.

I liked going into the houses. I probably should have paid more attention as to what period this was, but I was more interested in the shadows and furnishings in the rooms.

Can you see through the glasses?

The next section of the museum was the Mind and Body Gallery!

Not a lot of pictures at the Mind section, because they mainly had a lot of text and reading. Interesting, nonetheless!
There were a few videos and small games/puzzles to play.

The Body section was a bit too..illuminating. There was a video where they showed the full process of natural child birth, uncensored. Like, right up close and personal. If you get my drift. Was pretty grossed out. They even showed the intercourse. Only time children are allowed to watch (educational) pornography.

This is funny!:
Basically, it shows you the digestive process. The 1,2,3,4,5 containers you see there are what food looks like as you eat it, passes your stomach, intestine and out your ass. 5 is a huge poo, if you can see. The button that the kid is pressing makes a fart sound.

Came back to the animal display, but from above.

I'm not sure what section this was, but there were lots of different Mineral. It's much nicer to see the displays in person, rather than through the lens of an old camera.

There was this round room where they played a 10 minute video of how the Earth was formed in 3D. Pretty cool!

There's a Children's Gallery which is just AWESOME!
The picture doesn't do it justice. I can't describe it (actually, I'm a little lazy to) but it's as good as the rest of the museum, if not more interactive. All kid size, too.

I missed out one section of the museum, Afghanistan - Hidden Treasures. I'm sure I would have enjoyed it. But when I left, it was already 15mins to closing time. Oh well.

Outside of the museum:

Took a tram back to the city and entered a random restaurant for a snack.

Taiwanese dessert: Glass jelly with cream, green tea jelly, coconut jelly and taro & sweet potato balls. NGOM NGOM NGOM SO YUMMY! But I was shivering while eating. Not exactly the best thing to warm me up in this cold weather.

After this, I had to hide in a building, food court area, to warm up a bit. Also where I waited for Jun Jie to join me for dinner. We walked to Papa Gino's for Italian food. Pizza had ham, mushroom, anchovies, capsicum and cheese. Pasta was tortellini with meat and spinach. We each had half of both. Actually, after having my half of the pizza, I felt like that's already enough for one meal. Amazingly, I not only had space for the pasta, I ate more than Jun Jie! NOOOOOOO. I mean, all he had for lunch was mee goreng! He should be eating more than me!! I'm overeating hehehehehehee ahhh food is so good.

On the way back to Melbourne Central to catch the train home, we passed some of Melbourne University, so decided to walk in to look around a bit.

Wish me luck & send me love!
